BECOME A VOLUNTEER

“You make a living by what you get,
but you make a life by what you give.”

Anonymous

Everyone has something to give-whether
it’s time, wisdom, talent, or caring.
Volunteering helps us accomplish miracles.
It can also improve the community we live
in, so why not volunteer today ?

When you volunteer with the New Castle Community YMCA, you help us strengthen
the bonds within our community. We are
asking you to grow with us by offering what
you can, when you can.

We provide many meaningful ways for every person to make a lasting, positive contribution that helps build the future of our communities.

THE BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING

There is no better exercise for the heart
than reaching down and lifting people up.”

John Andrew Holmes

If you would like to make a real difference to
the people in our community, the New Castle Community YMCA needs your help!
Of course, volunteering is about more than
just sharing your time and passion. It’s about getting the satisfaction of knowing you are helping people become stronger.  It’s about giving back to the communities where you
work and live. And it’s about gaining valuable work experience and increasing your career opportunities.

Volunteering with the YMCA also offers you
a range of opportunities. You can welcome newcomers to Lawrence County or support
the development of healthy kids and families.
You can teach people to be more active and take better care of themselves or get involved
in helping young people finish school or get
a job. No matter how much time you give, your help can become a turning point in someone’s life. The possibilities are endless!

The New Castle Community YMCA
gives volunteers the chance to:
Contribute what you can, when you can,     based on your particular talents, interests,
    and abilities.
Connect with other like-minded people who     want to make a difference
Gain valuable work experience
Grow by developing  confidence, new     abilities, and leadership skills
Be part of an organization with a long,     recognized history of giving back to
     the community
Make a difference in the lives of children,     youth, families, seniors, and individuals in
    all walks of life

Feel the rewards of helping to create healthier communities:
The New Castle Community YMCA also values youth participation. Volunteering is one way for youth to become engaged with us and achieve their high school volunteer hours.

There are also other opportunities for youth to participate by learning to help our community and take on leadership roles.

OUR VOLUNTEER STRATEGY

We must be the changes we wish to
see in the world.”

Gandhi

Over 150 years ago, George Williams -a volunteer -saw the needs our community faced and created the YMCA.  Much has changed over the years, but one thing remains the same:

Our commitment to provide people with more opportunities to grow through volunteering.

We are so serious about that commitment
that we included it in our Strategic Plan.
As part of this plan, we give our volunteers
the opportunity to
:
Provide our staff with advice and      recommendations
Work alongside our staff to deliver programs
Work with our members
Organize fund raising activities and support     special events
Lead Association-wide Campaigns
Become community builders and community     leaders

By involving volunteers throughout the YMCA, our goals are to:
Build lasting relationships among our     volunteers, our members, and our staff
Double the number of people who donate     their time to our cause
Engage the youth in our communities
    to become leaders
Create outlets that celebrate our     community’s diversity

Get Involved, and change lives.
