150 Years: Share Your YMCA Memories

August 15, 2016

How has the New Castle Community YMCA impacted your life? That’s the question the Y is asking in anticipation of its 150th anniversary celebration next year.

In 2017, the Y will mark 150 years of service to the New Castle community. The non-profit organization plans to commemorate its anniversary with a booklet and video. Leaders are inviting members of the community to share their stories.

“The Y has served tens of thousands of people over the years. It’s been a part of nearly everyone’s family in one way or another,” said Beth DeVivo, Marketing Director. “We’d love to hear from those families. We’re asking anyone with stories, pictures, scrapbooks, memorabilia or artifacts to share them with us and help celebrate the story of the Y.”

In addition to stories of the YMCA, the Y is hoping for photos and stories of the New Castle YWCA and the YMCA that served the African-American community, both of which ultimately merged with the today’s YMCA.

Anyone who would like to share is encouraged to email marketing@ncymca.org or call the Y at (724) 658-4766. Calls should be directed to the Marketing department.
