  • HEALTHY KIDS DAY 2019

    Save the date and plan to join us at the downtown YMCA branch for a day of fun and active play for your entire family. Healthy Kids Day® is a part of the Y-USA’s initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families. 

    Healthy Kids Day® encourages kids to play more to build a lifetime of healthier habits that help them grow and thrive. Save the date and stay tuned for more information!

    This event is offered in partnership with the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence CountyFirst Assembly of God and Children's Advocacy Center of Lawrence County. We'll have the streets closed down with fun activities taking place in and around the area of the Y, including:

    • sports & activities for all ages
    • inflatable bounce houses
    • fun fitness demos
    • music
    • face painting
    • games
    • live entertainment
    • Pool safety demonstrations
    • and more!

    Join us for March's Family Fun Night - a FREE event that is open to the community (membership not required).

    Our March Family Fun Night will feature St. Patrick’s Day themed activities for the entire family! Join us for an evening of magical surprises as you follow the rainbow to the pot of gold (prizes!). Stop by each colorful activity station and collect raffle tickets for a chance to win a variety of baskets & prizes. The more you play - the more chances you'll have to win!

    Activities will include fun games, creative crafts, and a make-your-own trail mix station. Plus, families will enjoy healthy snacks and refreshments.

    Registration is not required, but appreciated for planning purposes. You can register online or by stopping by either branch.

  • FAMILY FUN NIGHT

    January 18, 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

    Downtown Branch - Gymnasium

    We are happy to introduce Family Fun Nights - FREE monthly activity nights for local families! Our first event will be next Friday, January 18 at the downtown branch.

    January’s event will turn down the lights and turn up the fun with Family Glow-Ga (glow-in-the-dark yoga). Plus, families will enjoy participating in New Year’s themed crafts and activities together. And since no event is complete without delicious food - healthy snacks will be available compliments of Apple Castle and El Canelo.

    Every family who attends will have a chance to win door prizes, including a one month family membership at the New Castle Community YMCA. 

    These events are free and open to the community (membership not required). Registration is not required but appreciated to help with planning and supplies. Participants can register online or by calling 724-658-4766.

    DETAILS
    Families will enjoy the fun and relaxation of glow-in-the-dar yoga, complete with black lights and glow sticks. Participants are encouraged to wear white or neon colored clothing to maximize the glow. Yoga mats will be available; however, participants are welcome to bring their own.

    We'll also be making a New Year's Resolution board and enjoying yummy food. So come ready to get creative and have fun!

  • Pickleball Zone Winter Classic

    December 8, 2018 - 8:00am

    Join us for a Pickleball Tournament at the Y-Zone on December 8 & 9. Men's and women's will be played on Saturday, December 8, with mixed playing on Sunday, December 9.

    Skill groups for each day will be 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+. Each day will start at 8 a.m. but exact start times for each skill group will be announced on Monday, December 3rd.

    Cost is $30 for your first event and $20 for your 2nd event.

    Registration includes free t-shirt and lunch on the day(s) you're registered to play.

    Additional Info: The Y-Zone has 6 Pickleball courts situated on a synthetic rubber surface. Shower facilities will be available to all players on the day of play. There will be open court play 6-10 pm on Friday, December 7th to get some practice in with your partner before the big day!

  • T-Day 5K Run & Walk

    Thanks to everyone who joined us for this year's T-Day 5k - view the race results online.

    Join us Thanksgiving morning for our annual 5K Run & Walk. This family-friendly event is for people of all ages. Wheelchairs, strollers and pets on leashes are welcome! Event proceeds benefit the Y’s Annual Youth Campaign. Register by November 5 and receive a FREE commemorative t-shirt!

    LOCATION
    YMCA Downtown
    20 West Washington Street
    New Castle, PA 16101

    REGISTRATION
    $20 per participant over the age of 6. Children 6 & under free. Pre-registration is currently closed - EVENT DAY REGISTRATION WILL OPEN AT 7:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

    DETAILS
    The race starts at 9 a.m. in front of the YMCA Downtown. Race packets and t-shirts may be picked up at the downtown Y from 7:30-8:40 a.m. Complimentary refreshments are provided at the finish line. Awards will be given to top male and female overall finishers and top three finishers in each age group. (Age Groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+)

    PARKING
    Parking is available in the YMCA lot located at the corner of West Washington Street & the Columbus Innerbelt, next to Burger King.

    RESTROOMS
    Restrooms are available inside the YMCA before and during the race.

  • THANKSGIVING PRAISE BREAKFAST

    Join us for the Tom Robinson Memorial Thanksgiving Praise Breakfast, which will be held in the gymnasium of the downtown branch of the New Castle Community YMCA. The event is open to the public and all are welcome to enjoy breakfast, fellowship, and prayer at this FREE community breakfast. 

    Join us for fellowship, thanks giving, and prayer. Guests will enjoy and inspirational message and uplifting music as they give thanks with fellow community members.

    This event is held in memory of Tom Robinson, YMCA Board Member, who lived the YMCA’s mission of “putting Christian principles into practice.”

    Join us as we honor Joshua Lamancusa with the Jack & Nancy Flannery Salute to Courage Award at our annual dinner event on Thursday, September 27, 2018. The event will be held at the Villa Banquet Center with the reception to begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 6:00 p.m.

  • 2018 Spin-a-thon

    September 8, 2018 - 9:00am

    Join us to #spinforkidz at the New Castle Community YMCA's 3rd Annual Spin-a-thon. Enjoy a beautiful morning spinning around the fountain outside the downtown New Castle YMCA. Event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes prizes, enthusiastic instructors, a live DJ, and local radio stations. Participants enjoy a 30 minute outdoor spin led by one of the YMCA's spin instructors.

    Participate as an individual or with a group of friends and help local children!  100% of the money raised goes directly to the New Castle Community YMCA's Annual Youth Campaign, which serves thousands of local kids every year through mentoring, education, athletic programs and more. Because of you, the Y can invest more than $200,000 into local children every year.

  • National Day of Prayer Breakfast

    Join us for the Tom Robinson Memorial Day of Prayer Breakfast, which will be held in the gymnasium of the downtown branch of the New Castle Community YMCA. The event is open to the public and all are welcome to enjoy breakfast, fellowship, and prayer at this FREE community breakfast. We will join in a day of prayer with people across the country to pray for each other, our communities, and our nation. 

    We are excited to welcome Jordan Rimmer as this year's speaker. Jordan is currently a pastor with Northminster Presbyterian Church of New Castle, PA. He was previously the pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in New Brighton, PA. He is married to Mandy and the father of Jayden, Morgan, Colvin, and Eden.     The event will also include the musical talents of Michael & Katie Daugherty.  Michael & Katie have been married for four years and have served in multiple ministries around the world. You may recognize them from previous Community Breakfast events and we're excited to welcome them back again.
